In years past, both our church and our homeschool cooperative have made and studied HIStory eggs... 12 plastic eggs filled with tokens of the story of Redemption from Adam and Eve to the Marriage Feast of the Lamb.

This has become one of our families traditions as we celebrate the Resurrection and the Redemption we're given.
My friend, Lois, just gave me this great Easter treat recipe. Apparently, this has been an Easter morning tradition in their home for many years. Her 3 girls are teens now and still want to have "Empty Tombs" on Easter morning for breakfast. I think this may become an Easter tradition in my home starting this year!
EMPTY TOMBS 1 pkg of jumbo marshmallows 1 pkg of frozen dinner rolls, thawed melted butter cinnamon & sugar mixture
Wrap a thawed dinner roll amount of dough around a marshmallow. Shape into a ball. Roll in butter and then in the cinnamon & sugar mixture. Place on a greased baking sheet. Make as many as you need for breakfast. Bake according to the directions for the dinner rolls.
When you remove them from the oven and break them open, they will have a hollow center and will be "empty" just as the tomb was on Resurrection Sunday!
Easter is one of my favorite times of year. I love spring. I love the promise of new life. I love seeing the buds on the trees, the blooming flowers and the returning birds. Most of all, I LOVE the celebration of the resurrection of my LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Last year, our home school cooperative made HIStory Eggs together. The idea is based on Resurrection Eggs but the symbols in HIStory Eggs span the story of God's redemption for mankind. History is God's story. The Bible tells us that history began with creation and the first man and woman. The book of Revelation promises that history, as we know it now, will end when we are all with our Savior forever! The first HIStory Egg has a symbol of an apple or other fruit to signify the first sin. The last HIStory Egg has silk flower petals to signify the marriage feast of the Lamb.
This is less of a Bible study and more of a fun family project. Enjoy!
